On Friday January 27th, 2023, the Albany Chef’s Food and Wine Festival will be hosted in person at the Albany Capital Center for the first time in a few years. The Board of Directors of the Albany Chefs’ Food & Wine Festival are committed to assisting the Arts in Albany emerging from pandemic. This year, the event will be held live and in person and 100% of net proceeds from the Grand Gala will go toward their mission to provide sustainable funding for the not-for-profit arts community in Albany, NY. One of the major parts of the weekend long event is what they call the “Slider Slam.” In this part of the event, people declare the People’s choice winner for best slider.
Back in 2019 when the event was in person, pre COVID-19, Chef John LaPosta of Innovo Kitchen was the defending champion of the slider slam. He took the title for Judge’s Best and People’s Choice, competing against roughly 70 local chefs from around the Capital Region. 11 of these 70 chefs were competing for the highly sought after Slider Slam title. Chef John LaPosta claimed the title with it’s “50/50 Slider” which consisted of a half beef brisket and half slab bacon, served on a house-baked roll, and topped with house-made American cheese, habanero jam, ancho-candied bacon, and peanut butter. This mini burger was well known at Innovo Kitchen and was a menu staple for two years before the competition. John LaPosta stated, “This burger is truly amazing.”
This year, Innovo Kitchen will be competing again to take home the Slider Slam title. The event will be held on Friday January 27th at the Albany Capital Center. The event will begin at 8pm and will feature music by DJ Reel, a dance floor, Stoli Vodka & Tequilas, E & J Gallo Winery, Jack Daniels, and of course slider samplings from the Capital Region’s best chefs and restaurants. There are options for general admission and a VIP ticket. The VIP ticket also includes access to a VIP lounge with a full private premium open bar and automatically enters you in a chance to win 1 of 5 exciting travel experiences.
Chef John LaPosta and the Innovo Kitchen team want to encourage current customers and members of the Capital Region to purchase a ticket to this fun event, show your support for us, and support a great cause in our community as well.
